Galatians 5:1 says, "For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, "and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery."

When Christ died, He gave us the freedom to choose to live our lives differently. One of the things we can choose is forgiveness. When we forgive, we are saying that we won't allow what happened to us to define us.
