My partner and I got engaged at about this time and threw a party to celebrate. I went with Techno, mostly because I’d been getting a surprising amount of positive feedback from the dabbling I’d done at small events and house parties. I’d always figured Techno drove most people nuts because they’d said as much previously – and perhaps a large part of the genre does. I’ll take it as a compliment that my track selection is enjoyable in a less popular genre. This also marks the first recording where I’m doing some live patterned-based remixing on the fly. I used loops and samples provided in commercial kits at the time but I plan on using my own materials at some point.
