Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens and remembering dancer and actor Gregory Hines on this edition of Fresh Air. Gary Stevens has won three Kentucky Derbys, two Preakness Stakes and three Belmont Stakes. Now 40 years old, he's been riding professionally since he was sixteen years old. In 2000 he retired briefly because of chronic knee pain but then returned to racing. Stevens is the author of the autobiography, The Perfect Ride. He also has a part in the new film Seabiscuit as jockey George Woolf. Then, Gregory Hines died Saturday at the age of 57. He had cancer. He won a Tony Award as best actor in 1992 for his portrayal of Jelly Roll Morton. His film roles include Francis Ford Coppola's Cotton Club, White Nights in which he danced with Mikhail Baryshnikov and Tap (Broadcast Dates: August 11, 2003 and February 8, 1989)
