Vincent Floyd is our guest for Fresh Meat Podcast 33.

Vincent is an accomplished musician, producer, promoter, DJ and music educator that has represented Chicago’s electronic music scene across the globe since 1987. Vincent has recorded for key Chicago labels Dance Mania and Relief Records and for a time ran his own Resound label as part of a deal with legendary Chicago label Gherkin Records. In 2014, Vincent connected with the crew at Dutch label, Rush Hour Music, and has since re-released some of his classic tracks and written new music for Rush House, as well as, Release/Sustain, Pulp, and Traxx Underground among others. We had a great chat about his journey in music and he’s perspective as a creative. Chicago DJ and artist M. Sylvia, aka Sylvia Dziemian, is our special guest for Fresh Meat Podcast 32.

M. Sylvia is a talented Polish ex-pat who grew up in Chicago and started DJing in and around the city in 2006. Her sets as part of the NORdjs collective quickly gained her residencies and spots at various Chicago venues and underground events. She’s played sets alongside international talent like James Zabiela, Satoshi Tomiie, Jody Wisternoff and DJ Three among others. She’s recently started releasing music on labels like Toxic Recordings, Lea Music and The Pool House. Hakan got his start in the Istanbul scene around 1994, and played an important part in the development of the underground house scene there. During his tenure at various clubs in Istanbul Hakan had a hand in curating nights and DJing alongside artists like Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Fred Everything, JT Donaldson and many more. You’re going to get to know Mr. Henry a lot better during the interview. I headed to the northwest side of Chicago to interview my good friend, Rees Urban.

Rees has been involved with Chicago’s house music scene for over 2 decades. He started out as a DJ in the mid 90s playing at clubs and raves across the midwest and has since played all over the world and produced well over 100 releases. This episode of FMP includes an exclusive DJ mix from Rees and the interview I recorded with him a few months back. We dug into his backstory, his musical roots and his current output with Brian Boncher as Rubb Sound System.
