Hazardous Weather Outlook. This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southeast Georgia and southeast South Carolina. Day one. Today and tonight. Hazardous weather is not expected at this time. Days two through seven. Saturday through Thursday. Heat Wave: A prolonged period of record to near-record temperatures is expected across the area through at least the middle of next week. High temperatures will be near 100 degrees each afternoon with heat indices reaching or exceeding 105 degrees away from the immediate coast, especially starting this weekend into Memorial Day. Heat Advisories may be needed. Spotter information statement. Spotter assistance is not anticipated at this time.

Special Weather Statement. An early season heat wave will impact the region through the memorial day weekend into next week. Unseasonably hot temperatures will impact much of Southeast South Carolina and Southeast Georgia today as dry high pressure builds across the region. The combination of near record highs in the upper 90s to near 100 degrees and moderate humidity levels will push heat indices into the 100 to 103 degree range this afternoon. Residents and visitors to the area should exercise caution as heat of this magnitude, especially so early in the season, could become hazardous if precautions are not taken. This period of record to near record warmth will continue through the Memorial Day weekend and likely extend well into next week with temperatures nearing the century mark each afternoon away from the coast. Precautionary/preparedness actions. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. Look Before You Lock. DO NOT leave children or pets unattended in a hot vehicle.
