Listen Later

On our final day of focusing on dealing with anxiety for our families, we will close

with several verses from Psalms that encourage us about God’s care and
provision. These can also be turned into great prayers.

Psalm 34:4-7 in The Message …

God met me more than halfway, he freed me from my anxious fears. Look at him; give

him your warmest smile. Never hide your feelings from him. When I was
desperate, I called out, and God got me out of a tight spot. God’s angel sets
up a circle of protection around us while we pray.

Now, moving down to verses 17-19 …

Is anyone crying for help? God is listening, ready to rescue you. If your heart is

broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help
you catch your breath. Disciples so often get into trouble; still, God is there
every time.

Such great words of encouragement to fight our anxiety and fear. Let’s keep going in

Psalm 91 …

Say this: “God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!” That’s right—he

rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge
outstretched arms protect you under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fend
off all harm. Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in
the day, Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts
at high noon. … Yes, because God’s your refuge, the High God your very own
home, Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door. He ordered
his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you;
their job is to keep you from falling. …“If you’ll hold on to me for dear
life,” says God, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of
care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at
your side in bad times.”

Focus your attention on one area that you are struggling with anxiety, can you name

it our loud?

What do you think God thinks about that anxiety?

God loves you as His child, How do you feel when your child is carrying around

anxiety?

As any loving parent would, God our Father wants to lift that burden of worry from

you. You were never meant to carry it. Will you give him the worry, the anxiety
about the outcome of a situation and just keep your eyes focused on staying
close to Him?

Let’s agree to try turning worries into prayers, fear into faith.

Let’s pray together: “Heavenly Father, I believe I have a better and bigger picture

of You after this week. You can and want to take care of me and my kids. You
want me to be Your sheep and not a beast of burden. Help me to cast my cares on
You. Help me to teach my kids to do the same. As above, so below.”
