Capitals 2, Red Wings 0 – Fucale posts shutout in NHL debut, Capitals blank Red Wings
Zach Fucale became the first goaltender in Capitals history to post a shutout in his NHL debut, stopping 21 shots as Washington beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-0. Dmitry Orlov and Lars Eller scored 10 seconds apart in the first period as the Capitals ended Detroit’s three-game win streak. The 26-year-old Fucale was picked by Montreal in the second round of the 2013 draft. He was 3-0-2 this season for Hershey before the Capitals called him up this week from the minors.

Dolphins 22, Ravens 10 – A stunner: Miami wins 2nd straight, tops Ravens 22-10
Xavien Howard forced a fumble and returned it 49 yards for a touchdown, Tua Tagovailoa came off the bench and capped his night with a 1-yard sneak for a score with 2:19 left and the Miami Dolphins stunned the Baltimore Ravens 22-10 on Thursday night. Tagovailoa threw for 158 yards. He relieved Jacoby Brissett, who passed for 156 yards before needing to depart in the third quarter with an injured right knee. Baltimore’s streak of 51 consecutive regular-season games with at least 14 points came to an end.

NFL – Steelers not getting ahead of themselves against 0-8 Lions
The Pittsburgh Steelers say they're taking nothing for granted when they face winless Detroit. The Steelers are riding a four-game winning streak following a 1-3 start that has thrust them into contention in the AFC North. Despite his team's surge, Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says the Steelers know they have a long way to go. Detroit is the NFL's last winless team at 0-8. The Lions are hopeful veteran left tackle Taylor Decker can make his 2021 debut. Decker missed the first two months of the season due to a finger injury. The Lions are seeking their first win in Pittsburgh since 1955.
NFL – Superman II: Panthers bring QB Cam Newton back home
Cam Newton is returning to the franchise that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2011.  The team signed Newton to a one-year contract after starter Sam Darnold suffered an incomplete fracture of his shoulder blade in last week’s 24-6 loss to the New England Patriots. Panthers coach Matt Rhule said P.J. Walker will start on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Matt Barkley, signed off the Tennessee Titans practice squad, is slated to be his backup. Newton passed his physical exam and his playing status for this week will depend on how quickly he picks up the team's offense. He's expected to compete for a starting job beginning next week.’
NFL – Beckham joins Rams
Odell Beckham Jr. has agreed to a one-year deal with the Rams. The Browns released Beckham on Monday midway through his third season in Cleveland. Beckham elected to join NFL yards passing leader Matthew Stafford in one of the league’s most productive passing offenses.
NFL – Ruggs lawyers: Witness says firefighting slow in fatal crash
Henry Ruggs’ lawyers are telling a judge they found a witness who says firefighters were slow to extinguish a vehicle fire sparked by a deadly crash that authorities blame on the former Raiders wide receiver. Prosecutors allege Ruggs was driving drunk at speeds up to 156 mph before the crash in Las Vegas, killing another driver. The Raiders immediately released Ruggs, who’s under house arrest with strict conditions.
