A long, loud clap of thunder shook Petersburg residents just after 11 p.m. last night; an acre of muskeg along Petersburg's Haugen Drive had been slowly transforming into a parking lot over the last month; there are plans to break ground on an expansion of the Hecla Greens Creek mine near Juneau some time next year.
