It is highly significant and powerful when Jesus says, “I no longer call you servants but have called you friends." Why? Because Jesus chose to call them friends. He didn’t have to do that. He could have always kept His relationship to those the Father had given to help Him in His earthly work merely professional, treating them as colleagues rather than close friends. The message we get is clear: friendship involves, includes, shares and results in great growth. Friendship enables entrance into something new. It is, in fact, the fragrance of His Kingdom.
