Some years ago, a dear friend gifted me with a one-quart container of pure Vermont maple syrup. I explained  I was not a big fan because it was too sweet for my taste. I may have kept the conversation short trying to keep her feelings from getting hurt. I had not even open it. Some years later, I opened it. To my delight, this Vermont Grade A Medium Amber syrup was DELICIOUS! Upon her suggestion, I might even sweeten my coffee with it - if I could afford it. Since that time, whenever I cook pancakes, I reach for the maple syrup. I also thank God for this friend I have known and loved since high school who lives long distance. Have a great weekend.
