Everyone is so popular… who has the most friends on FB, instagram, tiktok or snapchat… 

Honestly who cares… The real question is… do you actually have a real tried and true friend? 

 

  1- It is not good for man to be alone… this is a principle beyond marriage. 

notice God sent the disciples out in 2’s. Jesus had the 12, We also see a glimpse of this in the trinity, and we understand that 3 are better than one in a relationship.

 

Some peoples problems are made worse because they spend to much time with their problem… and that would be themselves. 

 

A relationship a friendship can bring life, joy, laughter, wisdom, insight, hope and so much more. 

 

 

  - Some friends are to be dropped. I hate this one. I like making friends for life and I am pretty loyal… but I have learned that I can give and give and give and people can take and take and take… and I need to just walk away. Or if they walk away - don’t run after them. What is remarkable at this age is I now am much more likely keep a distance and keep just my few friends and let others walk. 

 

  - Friendships are not easy…

I have a great friend who I went into business with and he left me with an 18K dollar debt. I didn’t even realize it until the bank called me and told me to pay up… I was ticked. And he blamed me??? but we worked it out, we talked it out, I realized it was coming more from his wife (now ex wife) than it was from him. But it was a hard year.. are we as close as we we’re? No, but we are still good friends. We still hang out and we still have some great memories we talk about. 

 

 

  - Quality is by far more advantageous than quantity. I have thousands of acquaintances - Just this past Sunday I took my grandkids to a big restaurant and my Grandson was just saying how much I knew everyone… and just then a guy walked in that I knew from the gym… he said Papa you have a million friends… well, I do, but not really. I have a million acquaintances. I have about a 100 friends, I have 3 really best solid, any where any time at the drop of a dime friends. And outside of my wife and Dad, I have one true best friend. 

 

Don’t go for numbers, don’t go for popularity… go for depth. But with that being said. if you are only going to have a few friends… make sure they are quality. 

 

  - Friendships will be tested. I can tell you a few stories of my best friend and I being tested. Once I refused to write a reference letter for him regarding a huge decision - he wasn’t happy, I wasn’t backing down, but we both chose to love each other and work through it. And we are closer more than ever…and we now joke about it. I blew him off once when he was struggling emotionally… I thought he was blowing it out of proportion… he wasn’t and his wife was not happy that I acted out of touch…. and I was and when I found out he was really dealing with some tough stuff, I apologized and again we now laugh about it and are closer than ever.
