Meet Kaylee Bachmann. Diagnosed with Scleroderma, a rare, chronic condition that currently has no cure. The hardening of connective tissue disorder affects the entire body. The leading cause of death in Scleroderma is when it attacks the lungs: Pulmonary disease. The condition literally turns the organs in the body to stone from the inside out.
In 2012, Kalee learned of her condition after a sinus surgery revealed signs of Scleroderma. Kalee was able to successfully manage the disease and halt the fibrosis in her lungs for over 5 years. She completed her degree at UCSB, began a career in finance, married the love of her life and had their first child, all while managing Scleroderma. Shortly after the birth of her son her health began to crumble and her doctor gave her the news that she had 5 months to live. This is her story and how she did it.
