Ashok Shastry, the Chief Operating Officer of DriveU, co-founded the company with his father after the latter's former company was sold to Ola for $200 million. Initially, DriveU was conceived as a valet service platform, but the founders soon recognized the potential of a broader market and pivoted to providing driver services. Prior to his current role, Shastry worked on the marketing team at Taxi For Sure. With a team of professional valet drivers, DriveU's goal was to provide customers with personalized parking services. However, the founders realized that their business model had limited growth potential and shifted their focus to a more lucrative market.
