Here are my takeaways from our chat today –

Even though she was a shy person, her involvement with music and leadership helped her to shine when she was a student in Delhi.

And like many, many of us, she did not know what she wanted to do after she graduated from secondary school. She attended the University of Delhi and in June of 2018 graduated with a BA in English (Honours), and wanted to pursue further education outside of India.

Only three months later armed with a study permit, she found herself alone in Halifax, Nova Scotia ready to start studying psychology.

No matter what comes next for her, she knows her next step will involve helping people and impacting others in a positive way.

In her life she had been bullied and felt down, and never wants other people to feel that way. She is happy when she is making other people happy.

She clearly remembers what life was like for her when she landed and knew no one. She wants to support newcomers as they make Canada their new home, and always reminds them that it is their time to shine.

Thank you so much Nikita for sharing your sparkle with us – we really appreciate it. And thank you for introducing us to Redemption Paws – a foster-based rescue organization saving dogs from natural disasters, climate change and overpopulation.
