This book captivated my attention along its entire journey: Marc going to Florida for Thanksgiving dinner; caring for his father; and, ultimately also caring for his mother as she watches her beloved husband face the most devastating battle of his life.
Marcâs positive response to his motherâs question: âCan you stay?â changed the course of his life. The book follows Marc as he looks for pathways of healing to reconnect with his Dad. Marcâs trust in God is challenged as he moves in with his parents, struggles to maintain his personal existence, while trying to rescue his father from the ravages of the âAlzheimer devil-disease-dictatorship,â as he calls itâProgress does follow as the reader feels compelled to reflect on the meaning of caregiving if that has been a part of a personal journey; or, to prepare for the experience which might await.
