Josh Webb, a rising musician with dreams of stardom, had traveled the breadth of the indie music scene alongside his four bandmates. Their journey was marked by intimate gigs and the taste of success, as their songs resonated on television, creating a tantalizing hint of what could be. The group, fueled by the belief that they were on the precipice of becoming the next U2, found themselves in Phoenix, Arizona, with the air ripe with prospect.
It was there, in the humble confines of a shared Best Western room, that reality crashed into their dream. Drew, a key member of their ensemble as both a singer and a rhythm guitarist, succumbed to illness, his body succumbing to fatigue and cold medicine as he fell into a deep sleep on the stark hotel floor. Despite their shoestring budget and the tight quarters they called home for the night, Josh Webb and his bandmates held onto the hope that each performance might be the one to catapult them into the spotlight they so eagerly sought.
