A huge thanks to my fabulous guest, Jane Woods, for sharing her career not just once, but twice with me on the playground project today.
Her career chat made me think of the saying “when man makes a plan, God laughs” – or one may want to say the universe laughs.
Jane had it in her mind that she was going to be a nurse, specializing in midwifery. But during her adolescence discovered there were some things about being a nurse that did not sit well with her. So she took a pause and really explored what she had a natural affinity for – children. She thought about this as a possible career focus and she made well-informed decisions that would continue to move her closer to her goal of becoming a teacher.
She spoke about the importance of demonstrating strong emotional intelligence in positions of leadership, and she shared a message that drives her – work to live, don’t live to work. She believes in a healthy work/life balance as well as the need to treat others as we would like to be treated.
The listener may recognize this is the same Golden Rule that my colleague Rocky explained was important to him.
What I love about the Playground Project is that we are all here on the playground together. It does not matter where we are or where we started or anything else. I wanted to create this podcast to inform, to showcase and to inspire. I also want to share humanity’s connections with each other, and I love seeing that people from all over the world share so many things in common – like humanity.
Jane’s next stop in her career journey is executive coaching. She experienced the value of coaching as an effective tool for leaders within the school system and is eager to see more institutions embrace the impact of coaching.
Like she designed her teaching career, she is continuing to make well-informed decisions that will help her as she moves towards a full-time coaching role.
Thank you so much Jane – I totally owe you one- or rather, two!!
Thank you for your generosity and your thoughtfulness.
Please join me on the playground again next week – and I promise I will press record – for my next fabulous mystery guest and another insightful career chat.
If we are not yet connected on Instagram, please follow me at puddlejumpcoaching001. Please remember to check out the beautiful animals at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London – the website is in the show notes and those wonderful souls are looking for a forever home.
Until next week, please be good to yourself, to others, the animals, and the world. Looking forward to the next episode when we will jump into the future together.
