Imagine a high school marching band taught, full time, by three of the most respected instructors and designers in Drum Corps International. For students at Avon High School outside of Indianapolis, no imagination is required. Bluecoats' Program Coordinator Dean Westman, Carolina Crown's Brass Caption Head Matt Harloff and Cavaliers' Artistic Director Daniel Wiles are all full time educators in the school's fine arts department. DCI's Dan Potter sat down this morning with all three to talk about how what they do in drum corps informs what they do at Avon, which has won three Bands of America Grand National Championships, and vice versa. Plus, all three also give us some inside perspective on their corps' 2016 productions in today's Field Pass presented by Zildjian.
