The Soft Rebellion Podcast

From eating difficulties to self-love | My story, part 2.

Listen Later

Hello and welcome to another episode of  «The breathing body». My name is Flurina and I am your host -  and I am so happy that you are here.

I received so much feedback and questions about my latest solo episode so that I decided to share with you part 2 of my own healing journey. Yes, me and my body this is my story. I found healing from disordered eating when I allowed myself to become sensually alive and when I gave her a voice. The power within emotions and feelings became the sweetest song and strongest dance I could ever share. This is my creator force and feminine spirit, I realised, wanting to be awakened and expressed.

Today I share with you what was that last huge game-changer on my path to recovery and what my relationship at this moment had to do with it!

About today's guest, myself, FLURINA :-)

I am an Osteopath, lecturer, researcher, dancer, artist and mother of the podcast «The Breathing Body». And, I am a woman who suffered from an eating disorder for many years - and found healing through movement, body awareness and falling in love with the fascination and miracle my expresses every day - the sweet song of feelings and emotions.

I initially trained as a dancer in Denmark and the Netherlands. During this time, I encountered many somatic practices, in particular the Alexander Technique and … which continuously teaches me as a facilitator the art of creating space and finding ease in movement by using images and imaginations.

The wish of engaging my hands in care for others led me to gain a Masters` degree at the European School of Osteopathy. I am currently practicing in private clinics in Kent and London, as well as training as a paediatric osteopath at the Osteopathic Center for Children in London.

I am fascinated by the physical matter of our body and how we came to be. I am continuously exploring an experiential and poetic approach towards being human and the potential of human touch for healing.

In this episode I share with you:

  • What my eating disorder had to do with my relationship

  • How I used my eating disorder behaviours to justify my misery

  • The power of saying NO during recovery!

  • The role of fear in my recovery and how I learnt to use it as feed-forward force!

  • What, in my experience, true lightness is about and how we can source it

  • The importance of taking breaks and REST in recovery

  • It needs courageous to live a life beyond your wildest dreams!

I am looking forward hearing from you - what inspired you the most? What was most precious for you from today's episode? What would you like to hear more about? I am excited to read about your thoughts of this episode - share it with me on Instagram @flurina_breathingbody.

Lots of love to you,

Flurina
