From Filmmaker to Stand-Up Comic | Antonio Scarpitta’s Comedy Journey
In this episode of Kill the Small Talk, host Alex Caron sits down with filmmaker, editor, and comedian Antonio Scarpitta for a fascinating conversation about creativity, culture, and the unpredictable journey into stand-up comedy.
Antonio shares his story of growing up in Caracas, Venezuela, with Italian roots and how his father’s passion for filmmaking and music influenced his artistic path. After moving to the United States to study computer science and working in animation and film, Antonio eventually found himself drawn into the world of stand-up comedy.
What started as a documentary project about the process of becoming a comedian turned into a real comedy career. After taking an eight-week stand-up class, Antonio performed his very first set at the legendary The Comedy Store in Los Angeles.
