But I missed her birth

I told myself that made us even

That gifts could buy back the years

That money made me a man

But deep down…

From connection 

From the mirror

I raised another man’s child… 

while mine were calling someone else ‘Dad’

That’s not fatherhood 

That’s failure disguised as provision

Not to fix the past

But to fight like hell for the future
