Since 1996 Mike has worked in Senior Management positions as either a Superintendent or Chief Superintendent in three Police Forces, namely the West Midlands Police, the Sovereign Bases Police in Cyprus, and the British Transport Police.

In January 2003 he was awarded the Queens Police Medal in the New Years Honours List for services to the Police.

Having concluded his service with the Police in the UK he was resident in Cyprus from 1.4.2011 but returned to the UK permanently on the 3rd August 2011.

Throughout his career Michael has maintained an interest in organised football violence and the various options available to reduce the problem. He has co-written a book with Robert Endeacott on Operation Red Card which details an Operation he led to address Birmingham's Zulu Warriors in 1987. This book entitled 'Hunting the Hooligans - The true story of Operation Red Card' was published by MILO on 1st August 2015 and can now be pre-booked on Amazon. He has also written about a decade of football violence in Cyprus and the book is called 'Violence in the Sun'. It was released as a Kindle EBook on Amazon again by MILO in April 2015.
