Remembering Roy Glauber
Roy Glauber was a theoretical physicist who was awarded one-half of the 2005 Nobel Prize in Physics for his contribution to the quantum theory of optical coherence (the other half of the Prize was split between John Hall and Theodor Hansch). He was one of the scientists responsible for the science of quantum optics, the relationship between light and matter. He was also one of the last surviving scientists to have worked on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos, having been brought there as an 18 year-old Harvard undergraduate.
