For this episode, The Gateway will explore how to become part of the video game industry. Reportedly worth nearly 86 billion dollars, video games have become an essential part of our culture. Gone are the days of a pixel bouncing from side to side. Video games are exploring progressive and poignant issues within our society giving space to unique perspectives—while giving the player the opportunity to experience another’s life. While video games continue to pursue innovative ideas, they present their philosophy in beautiful artistic visuals. Video games have captured our imagination for decades and this episode will try to understand the process of taking an idea and turning it into a viable video game.

To help examine all the elements that make a video game good, The Gateway is proud to welcome Xalavier Nelson Jr.. Nelson Jr. is a BAFTA-nominated studio head, narrative director, and writer, with dozens of titles under his belt including Reigns: Be-yond, Hypnospace Outlaw, An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs, Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator, and El Paso, Else-where. He also is making strides in a burgeoning storytelling career outside of games, with releases such as the cult hit comic Sherlock Holmes Hunts the Moth Man.
