Ally's story is one on par with Piper Kerkman, author of Orange is the new Black. Apart from my meeting with Piper on Necker Island, I have never met anyone that has been to prison before. Ally's story will be one that is bound to leave an impact and have you thinking twice about women (and men for that matter) who are incarcerated. As Piper said to us last year, "the system is designed to harm, not heal". Ally managed to find herself, her purpose and a new reason for living, behind bars. Having to get clean, cold turkey, with no medical support, she quickly found a way to have a currency and gain some power while she was in jail. Her story is one that inspires, causes you to reflect and maybe, just maybe will give you a completely new outlook on the people behind bars in our country.
