After arriving in Australia as a refugee, she founded Afghan Women on the Move — a not-for-profit dedicated to helping Afghan and multicultural women build confidence, independence, and belonging through programs like skills training, financial literacy, and creative therapy, all grounded in healing and empowerment.
With over 20 years of experience in community development and refugee resettlement, Maryam brings lived experience, advocacy, and visionary leadership to every initiative she leads.
