Hiram Bradley was born into slavery in Virginia and brought South to Louisiana. When he was around 40 years old, he found himself in a unique place: standing on the banks of the Ohio River, looking out at freedom across the water. Yet he chose to remain with the man who enslaved him and was ultimately freed. He became the first African American man to live in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Listen to hear more of his story.
