John Gilbert grew up in rural North Carolina playing sports, and dreaming of becoming a baseball player. Just like most boys, he was not afraid to jump off rocks and tow the line of safe adventures. He had no intention of turning this youthful play into a career. But when his Uncle asked him if he wanted to jump off buildings and try out some fun stunts, he said yes. Over 20 years later John has a resume that is eclectic and impressive. His talents were seen on shows like One Tree Hill, Sleepy Hollow and The Vampire Diaries to name a few. His commitment to his craft earned him a Taurus World Stunt Award nomination for Best Stunt Rigging in First Man. Post Covid, John and his family made some big decisions and he began to wonder if this industry that he loved so much was where God was calling him next. Following his faith and the desire for more he has pivoted from stunt man to businessman. Join us as we talk about his time in an industry he loved and what it was like to choose an unknown path.
