Season 4 of From the Ashes begins with intention.

After more than 60 episodes of this podcast, something has become very clear to me. The magic isn’t in how smart or accomplished my guests are. It’s not only in the depth of wisdom they carry or the titles they’ve earned. The real magic lives in the conversation itself, and in what happens when two people are willing to listen deeply, challenge assumptions, explore the tensions of real life, and come out of the dialogue feeling clearer, more connected, and more alive.

That realization is shaping this entire season.

This season marks a shift. From the Ashes is moving intentionally toward bold conversations and evolutionary dialogue: conversations that aren’t here to promote, perform, or repeat what’s already been said, but to evolve ideas, deepen understanding, and move us forward in meaningful ways.

What does it mean to decolonize mental health?

In this solo episode of From the Ashes, I share some raw reflections fresh from the Colorado Ayurvedic Medical Association’s annual conference on Indigenous Ayurveda. What started as an invitation to teach primal movement in the context of capoeira turned into a deep reckoning with my own dharma, identity, and the systems we unconsciously give our power away to.

From a rough childhood in Los Angeles to becoming a top-producing San Francisco real estate agent, Mark drove himself to the brink...until stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma stopped him in his tracks.

Instead of following conventional treatment, Mark turned toward natural healing: juicing vegetables, meditation, and radically changing his life. Against all odds, he reversed his cancer, reclaimed his vitality, and discovered a deeper love for life.

Mark Richard grew up in a tough neighborhood in Los Angeles and learned how to survive early in life. That resilience and drive became a core part of his identity. A naturally curious and self-taught learner, he was passionate about science, mathematics, physics, biology, and electronics from a young age. At just eight years old, he built his first radio from salvaged TV parts, and ignited a lifelong love for discovery and innovation.

He went on to study Physics and Mathematics at UC Berkeley, where he also met his wife. As their family grew to include four children, he pivoted into real estate to support them. By 2014, he had become one of the top-producing brokers across the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area, earning over a million dollars a year in personal commissions.

But behind the success, he was running on empty—neglecting his health and balance. In 2016, he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and everything changed. He shut down his business and walked away from his high-earning career to focus fully on healing.

Relocating to the Redwoods of Northern California, Mark immersed himself in deep research on natural healing and holistic recovery. He created a comprehensive spreadsheet mapping types of cancer against healing protocols, identified patterns in survivor strategies, and followed them rigorously.

The results were remarkable.

Today, Mark shares what he learned with others navigating illness, offering insight, encouragement, and a living example of what’s possible when you combine science, intuition, and unshakable determination.

Kirsten Lane is a Grammy-nominated Music Supervisor in the UK with over 100 film credits, including Saltburn, Baby Driver, and the upcoming I Swear and The Running Man. During my adventures in Amsterdam at Mindvalley U this summer, I had the opportunity to meet the wonderful Paul Gotel, former music industry mogul turned inspirational speaker and author with an incredible life story to tell. What struck me about Paul is his dynamic energy and loving spirit, and his unapologetic mission to help people start their own inner revolutions towards authenticity.

During our conversation, I was deeply moved by his radical honesty about success, burnout, and the illusions we trade for authenticity. We unpack what it really means to live in alignment. After a very successful 20-year career in the music Industry, Paul retired at 33. Disillusioned with the world of Money and fame, he took a 5-year spiritual odyssey to over 97 countries, visiting Scared Sites and Religious communities. Living with Aborigines in Australia, Bedouins in Egypt and monks in Tibet he drank up all their ancient wisdom and distilled it into a new operating system for life, he calls OS3 for Humans.

Now living in Maui, Hawaii, Paul completed his book The BIG U - A Guide to Self Revolution, and travels the world speaking at places, igniting Self Revolution in all he meets, speaking at events like Mindvalley and Nomad Cruise , and unearthing the limitations we all live with to liberate us from our identities. Supporting people to live as a Fluidity, without the restriction of attachment to our identities, we can truly play BIG in our world.
