Listen Later

On October 27 & 28, 2018, CJS attended the Just Transitions Summit in Regina. The weekend featured keynotes and workshops covering a wide range of topics all aimed at starting serious conversations about planning a just transition in Saskatchewan as we move away from a reliance on fossil fuels towards sustainable energy. The idea of the just transition is to do so in a way that doesn't leave anybody behind, seriously interrogating power relations.CJS co-sponsored and presented at the conference, but here Rachel has put together snippets of presentations and interviews with various presenters including Prairie Adaptation Research Collaborative Senior Research Scientist David Sauchyn; CCPA Saskatchewan director Simon Enoch; University of Regina geographer Emily Eaton; CCPA policy analyst Hadrian Mertins-Kirkwood; and Indigenous Climate Action steering committee member Michelle Brass. The Summit was co-sponsored by SaskForward, RPIRG, UNIFOR, the Corporate Mapping Project, and CJS.Read more about our take here: https://climatejusticesaskatoon.ca/2018/10/30/just-transitions-summit-recap/Learn more about Indigenous Climate Action here: https://www.indigenousclimateaction.com/
