James Dever is a former Marine who now works in Hollywood. His career as a military technical advisor for the biggest movies made started by chance, while he was still actively serving in the United States Marines. He was assigned to work alongside Clint Eastwood to ensure he accurately portrayed the role of a Marine. 

After 25 years of service, James picked up where he’d left off with that experience, and pursued a professional career in Hollywood. With blockbusters like Heartbreak Ridge, The Last Samurai, and other award-winning films on his resume, James is at the top of his industry.

In this episode of American Snippets, James shares his personal story that lead him to the Marines and some behind-the scenes mishaps on big movies. He offers his own insight into Hollywood trends, what it takes to produce a quality military movie, and his unique view of what the American Dream is.
