In this inaugural episode of Surviving Fundamentalism, I go back to being a little bright-eyed, neurodivergent kid who found solace in music and safety in the community that the southern baptist church offered. The vibrations, the power of the hymns, the baptist fits, the washboards, drums, the village I was building, and my deep desire to understand this god I knew nothing about. This very BLACK experience would set me on a new path--a path that would forever change the way I saw the world and myself.
