A landowner pays the worker who showed up at the eleventh hour exactly what he paid the crew that had been in the field since dawn, and the ones who worked all day are furious about it. Jesus tells this parable to surface a question most of us would rather not answer honestly: is heaven a wage we have earned, or a gift we have been given? Pastor Loeschen walks through the vineyard hour by hour and arrives at a truth that stings before it sets you free, that being almost perfect was never going to be enough, and that it never had to be.

Peter wanted a number. How many times do I have to forgive, seven? Jesus answered with seventy times seven and then told a story about a servant forgiven an unpayable fortune who walked straight out and seized a neighbor over pocket change. Pastor Glen Huebel works through that parable in two movements: first the debt you could never settle and the verdict that cancels it outright, then the strange second half where the forgiven man behaves as though none of it happened. He argues the story does not end in the pit where Jesus seems to leave us, but circles back to where it started, with a sinner before the King hearing the word of pardon again.

On his family's Minnesota farm, a teenage Gary Oehlerts watched his father crawl up to a badger den for a curious peek and end up with both hands snapped tight in steel traps, completely unable to free himself. In this episode, Pastor Oehlerts uses that unforgettable picture to unlock one striking verse: God has bound all people over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all. Sin is a trap with no release mechanism, and no amount of human strength can open its jaws. Mercy is the only way out.

Mengsteab found a giant cardboard foot taped to his office door. On the back were the words "How beautiful are the feet who bring good tidings." In this episode he unpacks the question at the heart of Romans 10: how are they to call on him in whom they have not believed, and how are they to hear without someone preaching? Predestination is one of the most misunderstood teachings in the Church, and for many it stirs up fear instead of the comfort God intends. In this sermon, Pastor Huebel clears away the confusion by showing that your salvation was decided in eternity, before you were ever born, resting on God's grace alone and never on a decision of your own. If God chose you before the foundation of the world, then nothing in all creation can separate you from His love.
