In Part One of Information Safety First, Zee described the emergence of a new hero, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.  Benson is seemingly playing by the same script adopted by Katie Hobbs in Arizona:  a secretary of state who presides over her own election race for governor.  Hillary Clinton has anointed Benson publicly, and the media has built up a mantra of portraying Benson as a warrior for democracy while ignoring 10s of 1000s of illegal voter registrations throughout the state in the 2020 presidential campaign.
 
In Part Two we will see that Benson raises the double specter of disinformation and AI as potential weapons that will destroy democracy, as we dive into the details of her Congressional testimony.  Simultaneously we will see the media repeat the mantra “disinformation is putting us at risk” as they flood social media and the internet with stories that support Benson’s supposition.  This works to distract the public from the fact that the Office of Auditor General in Michigan is now under the threat of defunding by the governor and her supporters.  The very agency that would help dispel disinformation is targeted, and the media is making the governor’s case.  The theme is only trust certain authorities for the truth.
