Elizabeth likes to be called Liz Crouch and the Cupcake Rack interview begins with her sharing insights into her past. Liz was a typical kid who liked sports and playing with her friend, was competitive, and didn’t like to sit still.

She likes to work fast but likes making things beautiful. So when she came across a baker making cupcake bouquets, she stared at them like they were artwork. Now, this is not a how to make a cupcake bouquet step by step story, this is an interview that follows Liz as she turns her idea into a product…the Cupcake Rack.

Elizabeth Crouch was planning a baby shower for her daughter, Shanon and wanted to bring a beautiful cupcake bouquet instead of a traditional cake. After checking the high cost of a cupcake bouquet, she decided to make one, DIY style and then became her invention…the Cupcake Rack.

A novice inventor and challenges aside, Liz shares that her invention story has been one of the most fun journeys of her life.

In this episode…Liz shares her minute elevator pitch, stories from bringing her Cupcake Rack to potlucks, how she came up with the Cupcake Rack name, provisional patent, and then the prototype process… well that’s when the problems arose. Liz used a local engineer who took forever and charged her $2,000 for garbage. Her husband ended up designing her prototype.

Liz shares the challenges of looking for a manufacturer in the United States, quiting a job she loved, cashing out her 401k, overcoming godaddy website design disaster, being a guest on the Steve Harvey Show, suffering from stagefright, website crashing, Edison Nation and more.
