Gerald Collins’ Journey of Partial Blindness, Resilience, Running, and Rebirth:
In this powerful episode of We Are Our Superhero with Alaya Ketani, we sit down with Gerald Collins, a visually impaired athlete, speaker, and founder of RunRev Coaching, to explore his extraordinary path from congenital blindness and grief to personal transformation through running and purpose.
This is a conversation about overcoming grief, redefining your limitations, and the power of purpose-driven healing. Gerald’s story reminds us that no matter what life throws at us, we are never without the tools to rise—stronger and more alive than ever as our own Superhero!
Listen through because near the end I ask for his words of wisdom for others, his response brought tears of comfort to my Soul... An Encouraging and Inspiring Reminder to all.
Born with Coloboma, a rare eye condition that left him blind in one eye and partially sighted in the other, Gerald never let his disability define him. Inspired by his legally blind mother and guided by unwavering faith, family, and resilience, he overcame years of adversity and depression, especially after the sudden loss of his mother to breast cancer in 2011.
What began as a single 5K run turned into a life-changing journey. Since 2012, Gerald has completed countless races—from 1 milers to 50Ks—and has turned his passion into purpose by launching RunRev Coaching in 2023 to help others discover the healing power of movement and inner strength.
