Set Apart Podcast

From White House Special Assistant to Multi-Business Owner

Listen Later

In the 11th episode of the Set Apart Podcast, we welcome Felipe Eduardo Sixto. Felipe brings a wealth of experience, starting with his law degree from American University Washington College of Law. We explore his journey from American University to becoming a Special Assistant to President Bush in the White House. Later, Felipe joined his family's long-standing business, Sixto Packaging, where he served as the Director of Sales and Marketing.

We also dive into his latest venture, Castaway Coffee, where he is the co-founder. Felipe shares the challenges of starting a new business, how he is bootstrapping this venture with his wife, and their dedication to promoting the brand and raising awareness for marine conservation. They often attend outdoor, marine, and fishing events to spread the word, and a portion of their profits support the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA). During those events, the Castaway Coffee team has met with leading ocean conservationists including Dr. Guy Harvey and Robert Wyland to discuss their products, mission, and collaboration with CCA. The marine artist behind Castaway Coffee is Steve Diossy, adding a unique touch to their brand. Additionally, they collaborate with Jimmy Johnson’s Quest for the Ring fishing tournament.
Felipe, who has a heart to serve, is also a die-hard fisherman and advocate for conservation. Through his business and love for coffee, he can serve another part of his life that he loves—the ocean. The most inspiring thing about Felipe is that he doesn't need to do this—he wants to do it because he believes every business should satisfy a need, not just a want.
Felipe and Laura embody resilience, hard work, dedication, and grit. Tune into this special episode and let us know your thoughts.
They have also collaborated with the following organizations and events:
Florida Insider Fishing Report
The Catch as seen on CBS Sports
Fish to Make a Difference
Jimmy Johnson’s Quest for the Ring
We also want to highlight that they contribute one percent of their income to environmental causes to protect the environment. One Percent for the Planet is an international organization representing thousands of businesses and environmental partners, whose members contribute at least one percent of their annual revenue to environmental causes to protect the environment.
