Quick video showing how I've been making front panels for electronics hobby projects.

Since I didn't explain it in the video — the purpose of the red film is to improve contrast. It's a good idea to put some film in front of any self-illuminating display because it'll reduce ambient reflections (emitted light goes through once, ambient light goes through twice!) but if the display is monochromatic, the effect can be enhanced significantly by using a film matching it in color. This film works great for standard red LEDs.
