These blueberries contain a toxin-producing strain of E. coli that can cause severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting. While most people recover within a week, some, especially young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems, can develop hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious complication that can lead to kidney failure. Affected: Lot Code 60401 with Best By Date: February 9, 2028.
The recalled blueberries were sold at Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
