Just the mention of this word brings to our remembrance the promise of Lamentations 3:22–23: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Our Lord’s steadfast faithfulness is a reminder that he is unfailingly loyal to his people. He doesn’t leave us to fend for ourselves, or figure it out ourselves, or even to pull ourselves up by our proverbial bootstraps.
