Hikers are crowding the trails in and around Lake Placid and Keene - the High Peaks. Their numbers continue to increase and there is congestion. Crowds at the summits and crowds of their vehicles down below.

The state has restricted parking on the shoulder of state Route 73. That's the popular highway between Keene Valley and Chapel Pond. It's basically banned. There are a few designated spots for parking.
