Back to the Future was a landmark 1980’s film for many of a certain generation.

Not only did it include a dynamic sci-fi plot and cutting edge effects, it captured the tone and style of the 80’s, managing to both mock the era of decadence and absurdity while also somehow honouring it.

It resonated with many of us when we were kids, but does it stand up without that context?
