The New Intellectual Book Study met in 2022 and 2023 to discuss For the New Intellectual, by Ayn Rand.
This week our reading was pages 37–57.
About the Book Study:
Today’s society is degenerating into a cult of despair. Not even churches are immune.
In For the New Intellectual, Ayn Rand gave a brilliant overview of the status of Western culture, what brought us here, and how to bring a second Renaissance. The book is a good first or second read for someone wanting to understand Ayn Rand’s Objectivism.
Rand offered the book as a collection of the essential ideas in her philosophy “for those who wish to acquire an integrated view of existence.” Rand’s goal was to advocate against mysticism, altruism, and collectivism, and for their opposites: reason, individualism, and capitalism.
This book study was designed for Christians interested in understanding Rand’s work and finding out where her insights can be valuable specifically to Christians.
