They knew there was more to life. They tried finding satisfaction in the things of this world, but satisfaction never lasted. The prophets, major and minor alike, told of a Savior who would liberate, conquer, and redeem. In the darkest of days, the story of the Messiah was the hope for the people of God. Unsure of when the Christ would arrive, they lived their lives knowing there was more in store for them. The Silent ages barely moved on. Where was God? Why wasn’t He speaking to them? Where was His Christ? Where was the new life that was promised? Then it happened. A teenage girl, pledged to be married, bravely told her future husband that she was chosen to carry The Son of God. The future husband humbly accepted their fate. The Child was born and praised among the animals. One by one, Jesus began to fulfill the prophecies, sometimes in ways obvious to the mind of man and sometimes in ways crafted by the mind of God. Slowly, people began to realize The Child was the Christ, The Messiah, The Savior of the World. Slowly they realized the prophecies were fulfilled. Over 2,000 years later we are still searching for a satisfaction that lasts. We are unsure what the future holds but hope it is more than what the present is offering. We are surrounded by people waiting for something to satisfy them, but He already is here. He arrived over 2,000 years ago and is accessible to all of us.
