We’re back with episode 4 of the Breakproof mini-series. Grab your copy of “Breakproof: 7 Strategies to Build Resilience and Achieve Your Life Goals” as I expand upon Chapter 2 “Fully Commit or Don’t Climb the Mountain.”
Growing up, my gymnastics coach always said, “Commit or don’t do the trick," words that I carried over into my career in finance and the extreme world of mountaineering. I’ve learned achieving your goals isn't just about toughing it out; it's about infusing enjoyment into your journey, setting clear objectives, and fostering a community that champions your vision.
In this episode, you’ll also hear:
Establishing non-negotiables for success
Maintaining your energy and normalizing your ambitions
Knowing when to pursue a different path
Must-listen moments:
[00:09:50] Whatever goal you're chasing or trying to achieve, figure out what is one thing that you can do that becomes a habit, that becomes a routine, that is the absolute minimum that gets you closer to your goal.
[00:13:05] Anything that you're taking on, I promise you, if you're having fun, it's going to be a lot easier to succeed than if you're making everything hard and stressful and challenging.
[00:19:22] If you want to quit something and it is not your mountain, set up some kind of system that takes away the emotional component and makes it more black and white and rational, so that you don't ever look back and be like, oh man, I wish I would have continued.
