Chapter 1:

-A rare medical event has caused a woman to have worms in her eyes.  The condition usually presents itself in cattle.

Chapter 2:

-The NDP will launch its legislative session with the throne speech in Victoria later today.
Finance Minister Carole James has said that housing initiatives will be a top priority of the budget she tables next week.

Chapter 3:

-Canada’s Laurie Blouin was hospitalised after a nasty fall during training just days before the ladies slopestyle final. She was lucky enough to escape concussion, suffering only a black eye.
She overcame blustery winds during the final - to go on to claim a silver medal in the women’s slopestyle.

Chapter 4:

-It’s an odd story genre that everyone seems to love: it seems as though a lion has eaten a poacher in South Africa.

Chapter 5:

-Lt. Gov. Judith Guichon will read the throne speech at about 2 p.m today. Premier John Horgan indicated earlier that the throne speech will focus on the NDP's promised $10-a-day child care plan and housing affordability.  The Province newspaper's Michael Smyth is here with his take on the day's headlines.

Chapter 6:

-There is a new robot that can open doors and at first you might think “who cares?”.  But the robot now has people asking the question “Are we going to far and bringing on the robot apocalypse?”.  Tim Dickert has the tech report.

Chapter 7:

-Amid racist remarks and calls for sweeping changes to the judicial system, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe called for an ongoing dialogue in the aftermath of the acquittal of Gerald Stanley.  The Biggar, Sask.-area rancher was found not guilty of second-degree murder and not guilty of manslaughter related to the August 2016 shooting of 22-year-old Colten Boushie.

Chapter 8:

-Vancouver’s Sikh community is sending care packages to women staying at various women's shelters this Valentine’s Day. A day that can be a sad reminder for some women who have been victims of domestic violence.  Members of the World Sikh Organization (WSO) are looking to change that by delivering care packages for women in shelters.
