Hello folks! Today we will be introducing and exploring a little bit about the function of a deacon of a church or fellowship. We will first look at the term from its Greek origins in meaning which is - of service - as a noun or - to serve- as a verb. Jesus was a server, or minister rather than one who came to be served or ministered to. Thus, modern day usage of Deacons has profiled it as a role apart from the five offices, but in actuality of the intended meaning and pronouncements of Christ to be a deacon is about the fundamentals or functionality of service, and what qualifies this server, or Jesus worker to be called a deacon would be how much they serve, or are willing to serve. A deacon is then a server, not only a table waiter as common parlance but a minister, set apart to serve. In one official office or five, the generalised intended origin of the term is service.
