For the month of July, we'll spend time looking at the different ways in which crossdressing shows up in African culture and folklore.
If you remember from the MA June Newsletter, last month, I got to chat about African Folklore and the Dynamics of Culture with my fellow Cameroonians Bee Lola and B.E. Lyonga who host the phenomenal Two Bees in a Pod podcast. There is a point in my conversation with the B’s where I flounder a bit while talking about the attitudes some Africans take toward unconventional dressing styles, especially when it intersects with gender roles. You will not believe how much time I've spent thinking about those few seconds.
Thankfully, I have a whole podcast where I can - ahem - expand upon the topic at great lengths so here we go!

She is a Ghanaian intersex/trans LGBTIQ activist whose work documenting the stories of queer elderly people is probably one of the most important projects on the continent right now. Her YouTube channel Documenting Queerness is great!
