Gaelia was raised in Tepic, Nayarit a small town in Mexico.  She was raised with awareness and concern for her community.  Her education and work brought her to Mexico City.  Here, she lived and worked in high-rises.  The frequency and strength of the earthquakes of Mexico City were disconcerting to her; she felt unprepared.  Her innovative design and product - The First Minute Vest - was created to help prepare and save lives during disasters.
