Welcome to the season 2 finale of Gaining Mom-entum! Abi & Meghan celebrate season 2 of the podcast by expressing pride and reflecting on the richness that having guests added to the Gaining Mom-entum conversations. Gratitude is the through line — throughout the season, in their reflections, and in their entire creative, fulfilling podcast endeavour. They even manage to reference The Golden Girls theme song! This leads to Abi’s childhood theory on what made for a successful sitcom and segues them into the week’s topic — season finales! They begin by discussing some of the TV show season and series finales that stand out in their minds at the time of their conversation (not necessarily on their all-time lists). Abi can’t stop herself from giving an impassioned monologue about her childhood & adult crush on Joshua Jackson. They talk about which shows from their pasts they would watch/have watched with their children today, for better or for worse, and how they talk about problematic parts of those pop culture pieces that no longer hold up. This leads to a discussion of problematic faves and what to do when the creator of something you enjoy does not live up to the power they’ve accrued.
